"It's a  GOOD FEELING business,"  states José Jay Porcell, "And I love it!". Having started at Orogem (the Porcell family business) as a young boy, JJ Porcell graduated from the University of San Diego, California, in 1986 and headed straight back to Los Angeles where he felt it was important to be around his Cuban grandparents and family. Little did he know that in coming back home in May of 1986, his career at Orogem would blossom with his first earring design creation known exclusively as "The Ear Pin®".

With this unique earring design, he discovered the joys of working in jewelry and how his Ear Pin® design has met the needs of so many women when it comes to what he likes to call “Earwear”. Best of all, the design works perfectly for women who have pierced ears and at the same time, the design can work for the non-pierced ear as well. You don't have to have a pierced ear to wear JJ's Ear Pin® design. 

“So many letters from women who wear my designs tell me they not only appreciate the sense of style they experience, but also the comfort each Ear Pin® design provides. It is especially great to hear from those ladies that don’t have pierced ears and find my designs opening a whole new world of jewelry just for them and their non-pierced ears. This is what certainly validates my work and motivates me to continue designing as I listen and pay attention to all the comments I get from our core group of collectors”.

And with this energy and focus, JJ Porcell with Orogem has designed over 900 different Ear Pin® designs comprised of different shapes, short versions, long versions, and any other unique features that work with each person's individual ear. "It's almost like wearing a pair of shoes," says JJ, "Each design can look so different on the ear depending on the shape and size of your earlobe. Some women prefer the large styles and have "the ear" to wear a bigger version. Other ladies want something small and delicate for their tiny earlobe.  There's a design for everyone in the collection. It's a matter of what you think looks and feels best on you! As I have said for years now... Beautiful... Because They're A Part of You."

As the Collection has grown, JJ Porcell has also created numerous other jewelry concepts centered around “Earwear” like The Cioro®, Serenettes™, Enhance*hers™, and many other great Collections which have yet to be released; and with most of these Collections, patents, copyrights, and trademarks are constantly being issued showing the innovative flare that JJ Porcell’s designs offer the world.

JJ  says “Through the years, I have seen how jewelry can play such a vital role in people’s lives; especially when that special person in our life happens to pass on leaving their personal jewelry items for the family to carry and remember. This is the true spirit of what jewelry is all about. From a wedding, to a baptism, to an anniversary or birthday; tokens of love and memories that we always remember. I feel these emotions are something we all look for and crave in this very short life we are all granted on Earth. It wasn’t until my dear TIA passed away leaving me her wonderful amethyst ring that I truly realized how wonderful and memorable a piece of jewelry can be. Although I can’t wear the ring, there it sits nestled in my home and with that ring and my thoughts, she will always be with me.
